AC Milan 2 Parma 1: Kessie penalty completes comeback

AC Milan fought back from a goal down to beat Parma 2-1 and move back into Serie A s top four.

A Patrick Cutrone strike and a Franck Kessie penalty, awarded after a VAR review, saw the Rossoneri overturn Roberto Inglese s first-half opener and end a run of two league matches without a victory.

Parma players were far from pleased with the intervention from the video system, as their three-game unbeaten run came to an end at San Siro.

Milan s first-half dominance yielded little more than two close efforts from the lively Suso, who was the biggest threat in attack in the absence of the suspended Gonzalo Higuain.

Riccardo Gagliolo somehow headed wide for the visitors from six yards, although a foul had been awarded against Antonino Barilla, but Milan s set-p…

Napoli enter race for Chong

According to a recent report from Tuttosport, Napoli have entered themselves into the race to try and sign Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong. It’s been well documented that Chong could be on the verge of a move away from Old Trafford, and especially a move to Italy – although, it was Juventus and not Napoli that have been pursuing the signing.

Now that Napoli are in the mix, though, things could get quite interesting. Chong has performed well in a handful of games so far this season for United whenever he’s been given the opportunity to do so, and while he’s still a little bit green, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would almost certainly rather have him playing for United as opposed to against them somewhere down the line.

It’s often difficult to know how…

De Gea´s free-kick woes continue at West Ham

He might have signed a lucrative new contract with Manchester United this week, but David de Gea s difficulties from free-kicks continued in Manchester United s sorry 2-0 defeat to West Ham on Sunday.

The Hammers were already a goal to the good when Aaron Cresswell stepped up to take a 20-yard free-kick six minutes from time.

The Spain international got a hand to the left-back s effort but was unable to keep it out, meaning he has conceded 12 goals from direct free-kicks since the start of the 2011-12 Premier League season – more than any other goalkeeper in the division.

Former United defender Gary Neville was less than impressed with De Gea s attempted save, describing him as having a poppadom hand during his co-commentary on Sky Sports.

Newcastle United sign Wood from relegation rivals Burnley

Chris Wood has signed for Newcastle United in a reported £25million move from fellow relegation candidates Burnley.

With Callum Wilson expected to miss around eight weeks due to a calf tear sustained in the 1-1 draw with Manchester United in December, Newcastle have moved to bring in a Premier League-proven goalscorer as they aim to bolster their chances of survival.

Newcastle and Burnley both sit in the bottom three on 11 points apiece – two from safety.

Wood, who joined the Clarets from Leeds United in 2017, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal at Newcastle, having travelled to the north-east on Tuesday for a medical.

The 30-year-old has become the Magpies  second first-team signing under Eddie Howe – and the club s new Saudi Arabia-backed …

No bigger inspiration than Cristiano Ronaldo for Rashford

Marcus Rashford has been lucky enough to see a host of star players at Manchester United on his rise from the youth ranks to the first team, but none inspired him more than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo spent six seasons at Old Trafford from 2003 as he established himself as one of the best players in the world, the Portugal superstar scoring 118 goals in all competitions with the Red Devils.

His arrival at United from Sporting CP gave a young Rashford someone to look up to and, despite leaving Manchester for Real Madrid in 2009, the 33-year-old has continued to inspire the England international.

For the second time in two weeks Rashford will come up against his idol when United travel to face his now Juventus side in the Champions League, and he is relishing the op…

Rodgers delight at Tielemans´ ´old school´ FA Cup final winner

Brendan Rodgers hailed Youri Tielemans instant FA Cup classic after the midfielder spectacularly gave Leicester glory with a 1-0 final win over Chelsea at Wembley.

The Belgium international took aim from 25 yards in the 63rd minute to spark bedlam among the Leicester supporters in a 21,000 crowd at England s national stadium – the largest attendance for a sporting event in the UK since the coronavirus lockdown last March.

Leicester needed heroics from goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and VAR spared another of the favourites from their Premier League success five years ago.

Substitute Wes Morgan turned a ricocheted shot from Ben Chilwell into his own net to apparently herald extra time, but replays showed the ex-Leicester left-back was offside.

Bayern Munich 3-2 Cologne: Gnabry brace seals first Bundesliga win for Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann picked up his first Bundesliga win with Bayern Munich on Sunday as they edged past Cologne 3-2 courtesy of a Serge Gnabry brace.

Robert Lewandowski broke the deadlock in the 50th minute, scoring in his 12th consecutive Bundesliga appearance, and Gnabry inflicted further damage eight minutes later.

Cologne refused to surrender, though, Anthony Modeste heading home before Mark Uth equalised to cap off three goals in four chaotic second-half minutes.

Gnabry, however, netted his second to restore Bayern s advantage, arrowing into the roof of the net and sealing three points for the hosts.

Thomas Muller spurned the first chance of the game, poking a sliding finish wide after a driving run by Lewandowski down the right.

Prediction: Chelsea vs Tottenham

Verdict: Tottenham win

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

Chelsea will look to shake off the disappointment of Sunday s EFL Cup final defeat to Manchester City when they welcome arch-rivals Tottenham to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea

Starting with the hosts, while Chelsea s performance at Wembley should have taken the headlines on Sunday, it was goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga s antics that had everyone talking. Suffering a penalties defeat and seeing Manchester City leave with the EFL Cup, many believe Maurizio Sarri s position at Stamford Bridge is becoming untenable. Now sat down in sixth and three points adrift of climbing back into the top four, the Blues have now lost three of their last four Premier League outings. More worrying, the former Napoli boss has seen hi…
