St Johnstone have opted for Tommy Wright to succeed Steve Lomas as manager following his departure to Millwall.
The 49-year-old had been assistant to Lomas since the pair joined the club together in November 2011.
First-team defender Callum Davidson has also been confirmed as Wright s assistant.
Wright has gathered experience through spells in charge at Limavady United, Ballymena United and Lisburn Distillery, seeing Irish League Cup success with the latter, before making the move to McDiarmid Park.
He also had an impressive playing career with the likes of both Manchester City and Newcastle United and made 31 appearances for Northern Ireland.
An official statement from the club said: The club is delighted to announce the appointment of Tommy Wright as the new manager of St Johnstone Football Club.
Tommy is joined by Callum Davidson, who will work alongside him as his assistant.
The club welcomes this exciting new chapter, heralding the start of a challenging European and domestic campaign.
Wright, who will not be unveiled until June 18 as he is on holiday, began his coaching career as a goalkeeping specialist at Norwich but made his move into management in 2003.
